Healthy Mind

For better mental health

Written by Healthy Living

In today’s busy world, self-care tends to fall off the to-do lists. Be aware, however, that self-care lets you live a more joyful, effective life and builds overall emotional well-being. Take these simple steps to help reintroduce self-care into your life:

  • Do something you have always wanted to do, like learning a new activity or taking a break to connect with nature.
  • Weave mindfulness into your day by incorporating conscious breathing (i.e., taking three slow, deep breaths in the morning before starting your day).
  • Practice progressive relaxation to strengthen your focus.

These tips come from Newport Academy, a network of healing centers for adolescents and families dealing with mental health issues, eating disorders, and substance abuse. Its motto is “Empowering Teens. Restoring Families.”
