Forty-six percent of American consumers feel positive about their current financial situation, according to a 2018 study by Nielsen Global Premiumization. Still, a great number of consumers feel they’re just in survival mode. Meanwhile, consumers say they’re spending about 33 percent more on groceries than they used to spend.

How consumers feel about their financial situation

“I am able to spend freely.”

“I live comfortably and am able to buy some things because I want them.”

“I only have enough money for food, shelter and basics.”
